How to Find the Best Residential Architect in Brisbane

Lifestyle, New Homes, Renovations, Services, Tips and Advice

Why do you need an architect?

Why do you need an architect?

Simple!

Whilst you can certainly end up with a beautiful home without ever needing to talk to an architect, the reality is that if you want a home which perfectly balances aesthetics and function – an architect will play a crucial role in your home design journey.

Why is this?

Whilst many people can create a nice looking home, the role of an architect is to blend art and science. Architects understand things such as the flow of the home, environmentally friendly design, and many more factors that are necessary to create a liveable and beautiful home.

What are the differences between architecture firms?

Whilst there are countless architecture firms in Australia, and notably in the city of Brisbane – where we are based, not all firms are created equal!

Every firm will have a different philosophy that runs their design process.

For example, at dion seminara architecture we focus on creating homes which reflect the lifestyle needs of our clients.

We analyse your lifestyle, and based on your needs we create a design which enhances the way you live your life!

Do you love having guests over? An amazing indoor-outdoor entertainment area is crucial!

Do you love gardening? Hobbies are something that should be considered in your design!

Are you entering a different stage of life? We will proactively address this in your design!

Whatever it is that impacts the way you live your life, we will ensure we address this in your design – creating a home which truly improves your life every single day!

How do I pick the right Brisbane architect?

Whilst I truly believe that the right answer is to come to us, for the sake of this blog article I will provide a more in-depth and impartial answer!

The correct answer to this question is to analyse the firm’s design methodology, and compare how that aligns with your own vision for the project.

Every firm will have a different approach to design.

Some firms may have a distinctive style that they rarely differ from. This may be ok if you like their work and trust their ability to create liveable homes, however the downside to this approach is that they will likely accept minimal client input – as they will want to stick to their typical design motifs.

Our approach as a firm is to, as mentioned before, translate the lifestyles and preferences of our clients into the perfect bespoke home for them.

This means that every home we create is truly a reflection of the client, and may change in style drastically depending on the client’s personal aesthetics.

Whether you want a Palm Springs style home, a Hamptons style home, or a contemporary home – we are always happy to accommodate the needs of our clients!

Is my chosen architect the right one for my project?

First things first, if you aren’t sure – it may be too early to lock in to a service!

Whilst designing a home is a big step, and accordingly it is completely normal to be somewhat hesitant about whether you have made the correct decision, you should have a solid grasp on the design methodology of your chosen architect before commissioning them.

Every firm will have a different initial process, but for dion seminara architecture we showcase our process to prospective clients during the first step of our design process – the Design “Ideas” Advice Service.

This service is all about giving us an understanding of your vision, and helping you learn about how we could potentially go about making that vision a reality.

In this service we will analyse your needs and lifestyle, and propose potential solutions orally – to give you an understanding of whether we are the right fit for your project.

There are no obligations to continue further in the design process with us – so if you feel our visions don’t align – that is ok!

As mentioned though, every firm will have a different first step process – the key is simply to make sure you understand the way the firm designs, and decide whether this aligns with the goals you have for your home design.
