FROM ADVERSITY COMES OPPORTUNITY – Why 2020 Might Be The Best Ever Time To Build or Renovate

Uncategorised, Tips and Advice

It might seem a strange thing to say given the current climate, but 2020 might be the best time ever to build or renovate.

As the world struggles to come to grips with the COVID-19 virus, builders and sub-contractors are concerned about work slowing down. But, as history has shown us, the best time to act, is often when everyone else is retreating.

If the building industry slows for a few months, builders, sub-contractors and suppliers will be priced more competitively than ever. This is your chance to take advantage of that. Better still, official interest rates have been cut further, so any money you borrow for your project is coming at an even better rate.

This is your opportunity to have your new home built, or your dream renovation done, at significantly less than you would normally pay. But you obviously need to act now, to have time to get the designs completed and lock your builder in.

But what about the risk of infection?

I understand that people are concerned about the risk of infection, particularly those over 60 who are in the higher risk category. But rest assured, we are taking this pandemic very seriously.

We will still be conducting our design advice service at our client’s homes. In accordance with Queensland Health and the Federal Government’s social distancing directives, we keep the recommended 1.5 metres or more distance away from our customers.

Please don’t be offended when we don’t shake hands when we arrive. Again, this is simply following the recommended protocols.

We may attend any meetings in face masks and wearing medic gloves as a precaution. However, rest assured we will not be conducting any in-person meetings if we, our you, are experiencing flu-like symptoms. If we can’t meet in person, we do have other options available.

What if you don’t want to meet in person?

I can appreciate that you may want to take extra precautions and not meet in person at all. And that’s fine, we have several non-contact options available.

Obviously, we can have a discussion over the phone, but to do a full consultation we need to be able to see your property. This is where online meetings are a great option through things like FaceTime or video conferencing sites such as Zoom.

Changes in our office procedure

There have been several changes in our own in-house procedures. Our staff are now working remotely from home and we are limiting any non-essential visitors. Qualified commercial cleaners are cleaning our offices frequently, following the recommended standards set down by Queensland Health.

Don’t forget our Pre-Purchase Online Property Analysis Service

This service is popular with interstate buyers who want us to help find them a suitable home. But it’s also perfect for anyone who is looking to buy a home but doesn’t want to go out during the pandemic.

This is not a buyer’s agent service. It’s an online service where we help you find the perfect home for your needs. So, if you’re thinking about buying a new property and want some quality architectural advice, check out our Pre-Purchase Online Property Analysis Service here.
